Sula wines
This weekend we too a trip up to the vineyards here in Nashik
Some of you might be kinda shocked.. why are there vineyards here in Nashik. Infact this place which i just found out is actually one of the more famous places in india for their wine making. This is because Nashik has always been quite famous for their table grapes all over india. The very cooling weather here is also very suitable for growing grapes..
We reached the vineyards at about 5.. and it is really a much different place from the other sights u see here in Nashik.. It is very modern looking and u can see the indians here are all dressed very well.. they are very young as well.. all dressed in fashionable clothing and i noticed every single one of them were like wearing shades.. lol. You can really tell the group of people here belong to the upper class in India..
The first program that we had was a tour of the wine making process. But this tour was really boring, because it was a sunday and it was not during the season where they were processing the grapes therefore none of the machines there were switched on and there was no one doing any work so we just walked around and got to have a look at some of the machines, for crushing the grapes and the sedimentation processes and the bottling machines. Next we had the wine tasting session, this was rather interesting because they thought us when and how to take each of the different types of wines, how to taste it and what to expect from different sort of wines. We tried 6 different types of wine. 2 white, 2 red, one rose and one sweet wine. I kinda forgot the names of the wines we tried but i liked the rose the best. it was pink it colour and tasted very refreshing and light..
The final event of the night was a nice sumptuous dinner at an italian restaurant. it was an open air restaurant right next to the vineyard, the sun was setting and it was accompanied by a cool breeze. The ambience for the dinner was really nice. The only thing i was disappointed was that....... the restaurant was vegetarian!!!. =( They had pastas, pizzas and lasagna but they were all with veg.. =( in the end.. i settled for a mushroom cream linguine, cream of mushroom soup.. and.... we shared a mushroom pizza. lol. =)
